Travelling is one of our main passions in life here at deVivre! So, each month we will share the love by letting you in on some of our favorite places in the world and the most fun things to do in those places. This month...

NEW ORLEANS

-Bacchanal (Outdoor wine bar/restaurant with live music in the Bywater) - Grab some cheese and a bottle of vino from the store at the front and they will prepare the cheese, whilst you grab an ice bucket, ice, and head to the garden to enjoy whichever band is providing the entertainment for the eve. This place always fills up, so get there by 7 to guarantee a good spot.

-The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA (Amazing art in a beautiful garden setting) - Located next to the New Orleans Museum of Art, this part of the collection is free during gallery hours and is located in a wonderful City Park, where you could easily spend a day exploring. The museum has some lovely collections as well and is well worth checking out.

-Free tours by foot (donation based tours) - This company offers tours in all the neighborhoods, so you can really get to know every part of the city and some of the rich history. I've done several and so far the best one was the bike tour. It gave me a great sense of the layout of the city and I was able to get my bearings. This is the only tour with a fee as you have to pay for your bike rental. Top tip: See if you can borrow one of their regular bikes. Most of them have coaster brakes, which are pretty difficult to get the hang of.

-Frenchmen Street (Live local music) - Skip Bourbon Street entirely and head to Frenchmen St to see the live street performers. You can't walk 2 steps without finding great music in New Orleans, but by far my favourite experiences were walking up and down this street with a go-cup of beer. When you get to Decatur Street, end your night with Beignets and coffee at Cafe du Monde which is 24 hours!
