How to manage: Wanderlust

We have a lovely little secret here at deVivre... Every single one of the travel pics on our site was actually taken by one of us. No stock photos of far-flung adventures, no faux-tableaux of impromptu picnics. We're true travel-aficionados who can't get enough of exploring + experiencing everything the world has to offer. And, of course, being professional concierges, we love planning trips and wrangling logistics. While this part of wanderlust is decidedly less... romantic than the part where you jet off to destinations unknown, a well-planned trip can make the most of your time and, of course, your joy. Here are a few concierge approved tips on how to best plan your dream vacation.

Pula, Croatia

BOOK EARLY: Sometimes you get that feeling when you must. get. out. of. dodge. this. instant. (see: NYC in February and/or August). While impromptu plans are fun, if you can be patient, amazing deals are yours for the taking. Plus, having a vacay to look forward to 6 months from now will do wonders for your sanity at the end of winter when it's 30 degrees and half raining, half snowing (we promise). And science backs us up: studies actually show that anticipating a trip can bring almost as much joy as taking it. 

Hoi An, Veitnam

BE FLEXIBLE: If you know generally where you want to go and can be flexible with your dates (which, of course, is easier if you're working with a longer lead time), it's easy to make travel dreams a reality. Lately, we've been obsessed with Scott's flights. Our Co-founder, Carrie, found round trip flights to Venice last year for a steal and is headed to Bali this spring for less than the cost of a single night at the St. Regis. It's always nice to have a little extra in the travel budget for necessaries like "champagne room service".

GO IN THE OFF SEASON: Paris in the springtime, Marrakech in the fall, the Amalfi Coast in summertime...it's a total mob scene. Traveling to gorgeous locales in the slight off-season can mean you have the whole gorgeous place all to yourself.
