September: Treats & Eats in NYC
Well, autumn is officially here! (How did that happen?) It's my favorite season since there are always so many great things to do (and eat) in the northeast -- and as always, deVivre Concierge knows the best ones to choose to have the best September. Here are a few of them:
Apple Picking: One of my fondest memories of growing up in Massachusetts is apple picking every fall. Growing up in the hometown of Johnny Appleseed, it was a must. We would go to our local apple orchard, fill up our apple bushels, then stock up on apple cider, apple pie, caramel apples, and apple dumplings, before heading home to make apple crisp. Sounds delicious, right? Timeout thinks so!
Camping: Everyone close to me knows that I've never gone camping. However, my best friend recently, and successfully, convinced me to take a camping vacation at Lake Cupsuptic Campground. What made me change my mind at the age of 30? Well, LCC offers fully-equipped campsites on a gorgeous lake. Add in mulled wine, kayaking, and scary ghost stories & s'mores over a REAL campfire, and I was in! Sadly, LCC is a bit of a drive from NYC, but luckily, someone here was brilliant enough to create similar sites in our own backyard! Tentrr is "Airbnb for campsites", and your new go-to for camping in NY state. You're welcome.
Foliage: Jump onboard Circle Line's Bear Mountain Octoberfest Cruise to see New York in a whole new way -- "Cruisin’, leaf peepin’, wurst eatin’, polka dancin’, mountain hikin’ fun with your friends and family…cruise Bear Mountain and see the mighty Hudson in all its autumn glory!" Who said that you can never have it all?
