Fall Travel Tips
Traveling is one of our main passions in life here at deVivre Concierge! So, we share the love by letting you in on some of our favorite places in the world and the most fun things to do in those places. One of the best places to visit in Fall is also one of the easiest places to get to...
Upstate, New York
A bit closer to home, but just as beautiful right now as anywhere else on the planet. Upstate New York has everything you need to feel like you've had a nice break without the hassle of getting to most places. New York is a big state, so I am focussing on the closer area around New Paltz, the Catskills, and the lower Hudson Valley.
-Minnewaska State Park has some great hikes and wonderful leaf peeping right now. You have to buy a map of the trails, but it's worth it to hike up to Gertrude's Nose and feel like you're on top of the world. The full loop is about a 5-hour hike and the parking can be a little crazy, so get there early.
-Storm King Arts Center is a fabulous sculpture park, located just an hour's drive north of the city. It contains works by many of the world's leading sculptors and land artists, including one of my all-time favorite artists and spirit animals; Andy Goldsworthy. Take the little tram all the way out the furthest part of the site and take your time exploring all the art on your return journey.
-Back in another life, I worked at a company that aimed to bring fresh produce from local farms to New Yorkers. One of the farms I most loved working with was Blooming Hill Farm. You can visit the farm on weekends, shop at the farm store 10a-2p and don't miss brunch at the restaurant. The breakfast pizza is amazing and the views are stunning!
-If you've been reading this blog with any regularity, you'll know that we love a good thrill ride here at deVivre. There are plenty of adventures to be had upstate including but not limited to biking, mountain climbing, and kayaking but my vote would be to go on a Zipline Tour. See the beautiful fall colors from a whole different viewpoint.
